Never flirt, I might joke or laugh with guest, but always keep professional. Not to say people wouldn't do it.

No, I would never flirt with customers to get a better tip, that could backfire on you anyway, fast service and a smile will get you a good tipYou should not flirt but it is okay to be friendly and chat with your customers, just don't talk to them so much that they can't enjoy their food. Anytime you have a good attitude towards them it is very likely that they will tip you nicely.

pretend you are a customer and treat them like you would want to be treated. This might sound weird, but when you eat out again, take note on what you liked and didn't like about the service, and pay attention to how other people react to the same person ( pay attention to the kids reactions too)...see what they are like so you can be more or less like them. I hope that helps :)just be yourself lol. if you want to be funny and cool it will come to you when the opportunity arises.

If you can read people very well, then do so, and understand when people want a super-friendly waitress, and when others just want good fast service with some privacy on the side. If you cannot read people very well, then just be professional -- fast, polite, to the point. I rarely go to restaurants and bars these days because I find the wait staff overly familiar and annoying. I go to a restaurant to meet up with a friend, or friends, and catch up. I am not interested in making new friends particularly not with people who are supposed to be providing a service. I know that there are many people who like being fawned over, particularly when they are men, and the server or bartender is female young and pretty, but unless service staff understand that we customers are not all the same, they are going to lose business and make less money. Honestly, the last restaurant I was at had waiters and bar staff who acted like one's annoying younger brother -- making smart-mouthed comments, and always interrupting conversations. That was the last restaurant I was in. It was two years ago.Oh wow I never heard a waitress like you before lol if there were more waitresses like you then there would be good service at dining resturants. I suggest just keep doing what your doing but if you have ideas go to your boss about them

a hostess greets ppland shows them to a table and a waitress serves the pplA hostess sits the guest to there tables, and keep control over who was first, seating the guest, the waiting list, mayb clearing the tables....(sometimes) and a waitress takes the orders and brings the food to the guest.

do not ever let someone ask for check..you lay it down during dessert.some people drop it off when you get food thats to early.Thats saying im done with you and ive given you want you need.I say check back to see if they need anything and then drop it off and say thanks for coming today ill go ahead and leave this present for you..lolThere's nothing worse than having to wait for the check when you really want to be on your way.

What I always did was ask if they wanted anything else then dropped off the check if the answer was "no". If it was a customer I knew well then I knew whether they were dessert eaters or not and so on. Another trick I used when busy was dropping off the check and letting them know if they needed anything else it could easily be added on and to let me know. I always had good responses. We drop the check off shortly after they receive dessert for the simple fact that if you get busy with another table or whatnot, they may have to sit in wait. In some places they may make you wait until they ask, but I would rather get it out there and check up on my other tables, run food ect, and then swing back around to pick up the check and run it/get change. That way they aren't sitting there after their meal watching you run around while they are ready to leave.

A Hostess is paid more than a waitress because of the fact that they don't get tips. So overall, money-wise, a waitress is a better job since she brings home a fatter paycheck than the hostess.Waitresses make more money but have to carry trays and put up more with morons, but overall probably have more fun if they have the right personality.

Well if you work at a nice restaurant with good business then be a waitress because you will make better money. But if you work at a restaurnt that doesn't have good business then be a hostess bc you will make $6.50 an hour being a hostess.i would kill myself if minimum wage was only 6.50 an hour!! waitressing is far better money- they make on average about 18/hr plus around 100 a week paycheck. but you claim all your tips so paying taxes kinda sucks. ive owed money 2 years in a row now... hostesses get very minimal hours bc theyre only needed while it's busy and they make minimum wage.. even if they work 3 hour shifts 5 days a week.... 1 serving shift kicks the crap out of that income. however most servers were hostesses once, restaurants rarely hire without experience

Well it all depends on how big the restaurant is, what shift or is, and how busy. But clearly more than one waitress was needed here. Thank goodness one of the servers was was there and pitched in to help SHAME ON YOU ALL'S BOSS! CLEARLY SHE IS NOT TOO CONCERNED ABOUT HER EMPLOYEES!!! AND SHE SHOULD NOT HAVE LEFT YOU ALONE!!

A waitress should have no more than 4 tables at one time..if i were you i would tell the owner to serve the customers and i quit
